I actually don’t believe in carb cycling personally for best results.

You don’t believe? What you talkin’ ‘bout?  Haha, fair enough Brofessor X…fair enough.

Carb/Calorie Cycling isn’t necessarily going to be the best approach for everyone.  It’s simply one strategy…definitely not the be-all-end-all.  But…it’s worked well for me when maintaining or building muscle while maintaining or lowering body-fat.  It’s helped me on various levels, including using it on lifting days for better glycogen replenishment and overall recovery.  Don’t get me wrong, I’ve used other strategies, too, either separately or in combination.  The 3 I’ve found most successful for my goals and lifestyle are IF, IIFYM & carb/calorie cycling.

As far as carb cycling, I’ve found from my own personal experiences that if I don’t intake carbs in sufficient quantities after heavy/intense lifting sessions, my recovery is crap and therefore I feel like crap the next day.  On non-lifting or conditioning-only days, I do great and feel great intaking fewer than average carbs.  But, on lifting days I feel much better intaking more.  So…it’s worked for me and I thought Ryan from PN did a nice write-up on it explaining it better and in more detail than most.  Whether you take it or leave it, I feel it’s a good read.
